Following the previous first introductory workshop at Plex, this second meeting
/seminar of hands-on hardware hacking will focus in a resume of the basic
principles of circuit bending, also take a deep dive into extra controls and the
creation of standalones musical instruments with various creative functions.
Workshop leader Tasos Stamouwill share all necessary practical and theoretical
knowledge to make and complete devices during the lesson.
Participants will learn, besides electronic hacking and manipulating techniques,
principles of functionality and design of music electronic instruments, reboxing
and creating a new interface that will comly to the needs of the operator of these
unique synthesizers.
It is not a readymade kit assembly as other equivalent workshops. This lecture is
about inspiring new designs made from scratch and redesigned by the makers.
No previous knowledge required but are absolutely welcome.
All tools and components provided, although participants are welcome to bring
their own gear for experimentation.

BIO
Tasos Stamou is a unique figure among the scene of DIY electronics (so
called circuit bending). He has developed unique and idiosyncratic techniques of
transforming simple electronics into more sophisticated instruments
by redesigning them. He has crafted hundreds of them and has been
leading workshops of DIY music electronics in art & tech venues (WORM
Rotterdam, Café OTO / Iklectick London, Frown Tails Athens, Mex Dortmund),
festival (Sounds of the Underground Vilnius, Hack the Barbican London, Ural
Nights Ekaterinburg, ADAF Athens Digital Arts Festival) and in collaboration
with Academies (Ionian University Corfu, Guildhall School of Music London,
KHM Cologne, Canterbury Christ Church University).
