The exhibition 𝕲𝖚𝖙 deals with the poetics of underground existence – it discusses some of the strongest symbolisms of human origins and human destiny that imagination has created. It is dedicated to the dialogue of visual and other arts with literature and its theory. It is accompanied by a parallel program that develops and reflects on the thematic axes of the main exhibition, extending them to new fields.

At its center are placed and contrasted four "archetypal" literary themes with a common atmosphere: the cave, the underbelly, the underground and the tunnel. These are places and forms of depth and isolation, scenes where subterranean forces break through the innermost seals and constitute a unified poetics of descent, stay and exit, but also of the reversibility of the arrangement of "above" and "below".

The aim is to illuminate the similarities and differences of these four motifs and, above all, to explore the narrative and substantive variations that emerge when they are activated within different historical and sociopolitical contexts – thus highlighting certain “deconstructive”, critical theoretical and sociological readings of them. In this way, a shift is attempted beyond the stereotype of the claustrophobic psychographic that often surrounds the isolated hero of existential allegories; an attempt is made to detect the intersections of the grotesque and the absurd, and to see the “undergrounding” of smaller or larger social groups – based on class, race and gender – as an indicator of a changing anthropological condition, but also as a matrix of visions of the technological future. Through this comparative perspective, the organization attempts to map not only the visual and literary traces of the underground experience, but also its transformations as an aesthetic and conceptual core of the contemporary imaginary.
