A series of workshops on processing recycled electronics for music production.

#3 / MODULAR TOYS / INTERACTIVE DIY ELECTRONICS

Are you a modular synthesizer user and wish to learn to make your own DIY

synth modules for your system? Or you want to learn how to control other

electronic gear with your modular?

Are you a new or experienced hacker and wish to expand the functions of your

projects, by connecting them to each other or make it being controlled by rather

sophisticated systems like a modular synth?

Then this workshop is for YOU!!!!

This third workshop organized by Tasos Stamou at Plex Athens will focus in DIY

techniques to add interactive controls to DIY electronics (as the ones that have

been previously crafted at the workshop series) and be parts of a wider

electronic music system ( synths, modular synths, arduino, midi etc.)

This meeting goes one more step towards transforming recycled electronics into

useful and complex audio gear.

The workshop refers to both modular synthesizer lovers and potential circuit

benders, since the technologies that will be explained and hands-one created are

combining these two worlds into one. Participants will have the chance to add

extra functions into their cheap or expensive electronic gear and will experiment

with different inter-connections of devices. Simple but highly effective tricks that

will turn simple-function instruments into uniquely designed synth beasts.

BIO

Tasos Stamou is a unique figure among the scene of DIY electronics (so

called circuit bending). He has developed unique and idiosyncratic techniques of

transforming simple electronics into more sophisticated instruments

by redesigning them. He has crafted hundreds of them and has been

leading workshops of DIY music electronics in art & tech venues (WORM

Rotterdam, Café OTO / Iklectick London, Frown Tails Athens, Mex Dortmund),

festival (Sounds of the Underground Vilnius, Hack the Barbican London, Ural

Nights Ekaterinburg, ADAF Athens Digital Arts Festival) and in collaboration

with Academies (Ionian University Corfu, Guildhall School of Music London,

KHM Cologne, Canterbury Christ Church University).
