A Musical Anthology
A Musical Anthology is a musical evening that brings together classical repertoire and contemporary electronic composition within the unique setting of PLEX. The concert marks Ariadne Westerkamp’s return to the stage after fifteen years, as well as her musical meeting with her son, Gennadios Arvanitis (Degear0001).
The first part of the evening features works for voice and piano from the classical repertoire, including compositions by Franz Schubert, Erik Satie, Puccini, and others, centered around themes such as love, spring, and nostalgia.
In the second part, the evening moves into a more electronic and atmospheric environment, with live compositions by Gennadios Arvanitis for electronic instruments and piano. Handmade electronic devices, processed sounds, and acoustic elements are combined with the grand piano, creating a natural connection between the two musical worlds of the concert.
The PLEX venue, with its worn surfaces and industrial character, becomes part of the experience itself, creating a contrast with the clarity and detail of the classical sound.
Duration: approximately 2 hours.
